Labor Day

Labor Day - Most of us consider Labor Day to be the official "end of summer". School is back in session, most public pools are closing down, and the thermometer is beginning to get a break. But do you know the origin of Labor Day?

There is some disagreement over who actually organized the first "Labor Day" but all are in agreement over the purpose. It is a day to honor the contributions American workers have made to the strength and prosperity of our country. From humble beginnings in 1882, Labor Day celebrations grew until in 1894, Congress declared that the first Monday of September would be a national holiday.

We at the Mike Honea Agency wish you a safe & relaxing weekend. Our office will be closed on Monday, September 7th, in honor of Labor Day. We will reopen on Tuesday with regular hours.
